Isaiah is a book about contrasting places: Faithless Old Jerusalem & Faithful New Jerusalem, The lofty city & The everlasting rock. In our new sermon series from Isaiah 28-39, we see another set of contrasting places: The Wilderness & The Fruitful field. These represent the final destinations for people who don’t trust in God and people who do. However, the bigger underlying issue that this part of Isaiah introduces is that of spiritual blindness and deafness.
