On 15 March this year, the Elders announced their intention to appoint Jony Khoe as an Elder. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and physical church services still being unable to reconvene, the Elders will proceed with the appointment of Jony as an Elder with effect from 1 July 2020. Jony’s appointment is made after much prayer by the Elders, a rigorous interview process, and according to the principles laid down in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
The calling to Eldership is a high one; Elders are called to model godliness and point God’s flock toward Jesus and His mission (1 Peter 1:1-5). Jony will undertake to lead, teach, protect and love the members of Bukit Arang as shepherds are to care for the sheep in the flock.
Jony joined Bukit Arang in 2000 and became a member in 2004. He is currently serving as a leader in the adult community care group, and he also plays an active role in the Church’s hospitality ministry welcoming members, guests and newcomers at our Sunday services. Additionally, he sits on the Management and Finance Committee where he works with the pastoral team to govern the Church’s Information Technology infrastructure. He had previously served in children’s ministry and also managed the Church’s digital communication channels.
Jony is married to Geraldine and blessed with twins, Wei Jian and Wei Jun, who are both working adults. He recently became a father-in-law to Wei Jian’s wife, Claire.
